The basic kinds of crops are Animals, Trees, and Regular Crops which you must plant. This particular article will only talk about trees. If you want to get more information regarding animals and regular crops, go to their individual articles.
Trees are an ideal crop in that they never wither the same as the seed crops do. You put a tree on your area, it will grow up, and you can harvest it when you want to. They are pleasing to the eye and are a good way to personalize your farm. The drawback of planting trees is that they are a poor return if you purchase them yourself. A tree can be bought for 400 coins, and you will just get about 20-80 coins each time you harvest. You can patiently wait til you receive trees as gifts from others. As an alternative, you can ask for a particular tree that is offered through the free gift system by placing a sign post on your property. In addition bear in mind that trees take several days to grow up. They are NOT a quick money maker.
Make sure that you consider your goals in Farmville when choosing your trees. Maybe you simply want to know if it is feasible to earn lots of coins in a short time. Do not grow trees if that is your goal. If you want to earn earn lots of coins plant berries instead. But then if you don’t care if you are going to wait for a crop to ripen and if you’re looking to use them for decorative purposes, trees are a good option.
People who leave the game for extended periods of time and then come back to it (e.g. a couple days or weeks) will also like trees and animals. Seed crops rot whereas both trees and animals can wait to be harvested. Plan well and you’ll never have to clear a field of rotten plants (very dull way to spend an evening)!
